Here are a few tips when moving to your forever home. Closing dates and unfinished renovations can cause many customers a headache when it comes to booking movers. We advise our customers to let us know as far in advance as possible the closing date. As a courtesy, we always hold a few alternate moving slots for customers with closing dates in case it is pushed.

Once the moving date is confirmed, here are a few reminders to make sure your move goes smoothly.

1, ADDRESS CHANGE
A few weeks prior to your scheduled moving day make sure you taken care of address change (bank, schools, doctors, etc) and turned off utilities.

2. PETS
Pets get very stressed out during a full packing move. Be sure to board them or leave with family or friends.

3. INVENTORY
Make sure you review the inventory list with the foreman on your moving job. Check closets, attic, basement or any other storage units and top of cabinets – to be sure no item has been left behind. When the movers have unloaded the truck – be sure to check the truck yourself that nothing has been left behind.

4. FRAGILE ITEMS
Point out any extra-fragile items that need special attention. If certain items should not be packed or moved, mark them appropriately.

5. APPLIANCES
Be sure to unplug all electronic appliances 24 hours in advance of a move: home computers, stereos and audio/video equipment. These items should be cooled to room temperature on moving day.
